It beats the 'cheapies' hands down. I also like it because it is thin! I thought (in my ignorance) using a larger iron would be easier, but not so. Its much easier to use this one. Plus... It comes in a limited edition pink style if you like that sort of thing (which I do). I also love this iron because its really easy to curl the ends of your hair. Just twist and go.

I only had to go over each part of my hair once and I was done, so i stopped trying to blow dry my hair to get rid of the frizz, because the straightner would do it. But after about 6 months the straightener stopped getting as hot as it did at first, and now I have to go over each peice about 3-5 times instead of just once. And beware any heat protection product get the panels all dirty and sticky and make it work worse. So take care of it. It also gives you split ends, so use conditioner and moisterizing shampoo if you plan to use it everyday or a lot. Also all of the stuff about being able to curl or get the ends to flip the way you want is almost impossible for one person and even if you have help it is still difficult.

Heats up quickly (and to a very high temp. as far as flat irons go)
Many temp. settings
Digital readout tells you temp. and if tool is finished heating up or still needs time
Buttons are not able to be accidentally turned off or readjusted (example: you must hold the power button down for several seconds to turn it on or off)
Plates are wide (I consider this a pro as my hair is thick and long and this cuts down on styling time)
Has an auto shutoff timer (so you don't accidentally burn down your house)
Cord is an adequate length (not too short, not too long)

The vast majority of the time, my straightened hair would become wavy if I slept on it, if it got hit with any kind of moisture, or sometimes just as the day went on. Not with this iron; my hair is beautifully pin-straight (a real first for the ends not to curl up at all) even after I sleep on it, and it saves me a ton of time from not needing to restraighten it the next day. I usually use irons on the highest setting (my old iron went up to 410 degrees), but that same temp on this iron was far too hot, to the risk of burning the ends. It's nice to have the option of all the temperatures since I'm sure certain types of hair require the hotter setting.

It takes me 15-20 minutes, which is a solid time but not as fast as I had hoped with the big plates. I do feel like it's easy to burn your scalp with the exposed siding, or even just the expulsion of steam as the plates move, but it just calls to be careful.
